WORLD ACTION

Australia

In Australia, the Australian government has created plans and laws to protecting the reef.  The government has created an intergovernmental agreement which is an agreement between the Australian and Queensland governments to work together in protecting the reef.  They have made future plans for 2050 and have created a Reef Trust. They work with multiple agencies to continuously protect the reef.

EFFECTIVE?

The actions taken are becoming effective because they are set for 2050 and laws are becoming in place to insure that. They are putting $140 million in funding for the Reef Trust including the additional $100 million for improved water quality announced by Australia’s Prime Minister. These efforts can be implemented here. We have the technology to do so, but improvenemtns on environmental fundings is recommended.
